What a strange move for Nintendo to make, putting DS games on the Wii U eShop under Virtual Console. Sure you can play the DS games normally on 3DS, but is there any point in putting it on the Wii U? Do you think that this is a smart move? Share your thoughts below.

Yeah, I touched on this in a News thread yesterday--and I find this more and more questionable/bizarre as I think more and more about it.
I get it cause it'd be a good boost for the Wii U eShop--but I think DS Virtual Console would fit a lot better on the 3DS eShop--offering 3DS owners a chance to DL some of the harder-to-find DS titles, and saying most DS games would be relatively small in DL size compared to 3DS games, you can probably fit a lot of DL'ed DS games on your 3DS SD card. Okay, the Wii U CAN support up to 2 TB external HD memory--but Wii U's a CONSOLE, and I don't like the idea of Handheld games on consoles--or vice versa.
The ONLY thing I can positively compare this to is GAMEBOY games being played on the SNES' SUPER GAMEBOY(back in the 90's), GBA/GBC/GB Games being played on the GAMECUBE's GB PLAYER(last decade)--so we seem to get this kinda thing once a decade, and I think that's kinda what Nintendo is going for. AND I have re-thought about the added fact that even though the DS is still 100% buyable/playable, and all DS games are compatible for 3DS(and the combined sales #'s of around 180 million DS/2DS/XL/3DS' out there sold), it's NOT like it's something completely NEW.
Gameboy was in it's high-performance when the SUPER GAMEBOY came out, granted the SUPER GAMEBOY was more of a gimmick to give Nintendo gamers a cool, and innovative way to play their Gameboy games for the first time on a TV. Same with the GB PLAYER for Gamecube--you can play the first 15 years, or so, of the Gameboy FAMILY of titles on your GC--the problem with that was playing with the GC Controller. But that, again, was more a gimmick/innovative/fun thing--and not a SELLING point for GBA, which was still riding high, and adding to the 200+ million GAMEBOY Family sales numbers.
WITH the DS games coming to Wii U, however, seeing games being played rather vertically(which seems to be the best-look), or horizontally(really dumb looking, IMO) on a Gamepad--just seems WAAAY over the top, and actually unnecessary. Not saying it's not gonna work, and I CAN see it being more of a positive in the long-run. BUT Nintendo does still need to give us some info on the Wii U VC games for Gamecube, N64, and so on. Oh, and lets not forget that GBA games will come to Wii U VC soon(again, a bizarre inclusion).
OH--(sorry to carry on)--and the thing w/ VIRTUAL CONSOLE, at least back in 2006 when the Wii came out, and with all the hype that was out there about the ability to play ALL the classic games from NES, SNES, and so on, on your Wii was the RETRO/CLASSIC Factor. I loved that, and it was a HUGE selling point for MANY Wii owners--and still is with the Classic VC games on Wii U and 3DS--but DS games are NOT classics--okay, some are in the "That game was an INSTANT Classic" line, like New SMBDS, Pokemon(s), ACWW, MKDS, etc--but they're not even close to being in the same breath "RETRO-y" like GB, GBC, NES, etc--which DO belong on Virtual Console.
NOT DS though...

well, the GBA games coming to the Wii U work BETTER than DS games--which, again, are still 100% playable on ALL your DS and 3DS systems...
Plus GBA games are essentially smaller versions of SNES games(16-bit), so we're getting a few games like SUPER MARIO WORLD 2: YOSHI'S ISLAND, and other really good GBA titles. (Then again, we should be getting GBA games on 3DS eShop for EVERYONE, not just "Ambassadors" like the 10 that have been out for a few years).
STILL, DS games coming to Wii U VC is just bizarre.....
