IT'S NOT THE SIZE....YOU KNOW
Nintendo pulled quite a fast one last year when they announced and released a smaller version of the Wii last year exclusive to Canada--the Wii Mini, making many people do a bit more than simply scratch their heads. Some thought it was pointless, where others(including myself), thought it was a really cool looking console, and would fit people's financial and space-saving situations.
NOW Nintendo will bring the Wii Mini to the US later this month, pricing it at a mere $99 and bundling it with Mario Kart Wii.
Sure, one of the MAJOR kicks about it is there's NO wifi, and therefore no Wii Menu for the most part--but with MOST Wii Online services wither being cancelled, OR available on the original Wii console AND the Wii U's Wii Menu, all one really needs is offered in the WIi Mini. Plus most Wii Online games aren't anywhere near as popular or frequented as they were a few years ago.
(Okay, the MKWii bundle is kinda ironic)--but it will come with a Red Wiimote and Nunchuk--but I, for one, don't do much Online Gaming and most of my Wii games are simple and offline, PLUS it is one of those instant collector's items like the GB Micro or NES Model 101(Top Loader).
And it's a great choice for the gamer who wants a Wii still, but doesn't want the plain/bland looking original model.

I really love the design of the Wii Mini, and will probably pick one up next year, assuming they'll still be available

well I don't think they'd be FLYING off store shelves, and they really only appeal to Collectors/Non-Online Gamers...(ME), plus the Wii U will be the BIG attention grabber this year console-wise for Nintendo. AND you can still pick up a NEW Wii Original console, and used Wii's are like $50---
the MAIN appeal for ME to want a Wii Mini is the red wiimote and nunchuk...and the way it looks like a GC, plus I'd love to add it to my collection of Nintendo consoles, and just want to own one to brag about it when they hit the REAL side of the Collectors Market(if they aren't already), and go for 3-4 times the MSRP

I might get one, eventually. I just don't like the way I'm assuming it's made. It looks cheap and plastic (which it probably is plastic). That's is probably why it's so cheap as well.
I will admit the actual design looks cool. Plus I guess the plastic thing isn't too bad because it's not like I was going to be throwing it against a wall or anything. It would just work if there was an accident and it didn't hold up very well.

why would you NOT securely set it on a table/shelf? Don't break things that cost money and aren't easy to replace and MOST systems are plastic BTW--that's why they don't way a metric ton...
