VITA, LATIN FOR (SHORT) LIFE
It's not really a surprise, honestly, but Sony has finally "confirmed" something we all pretty much knew had been overdue for YEARS---they've announced that they will no longer support the PS Vita, the handheld that never really mattered to far too many people, and never had the line-up or fanbase that your typical Nintendo handhelds had(even the PSP had better pull).
What does this mean?
Well, as of this moment, Vita will no longer have any NEW projects/games in the works. They WILL continue to offer PSN on Vita, continue selling it until stock runs out--and then you'll be out of luck, unless you're one of many Vita owners who've had to rely on "other means" to keep their Vita busy.
Sony's confirmation comes as they announce the Vita has reached "LEGACY STATUS", joining past Sony systems. But comparing the sales between Sony systems is quite a huge difference in success. The PS Vita hovered around 4 million sales since it's launch--while it's handheld predecessor the PSP had 82 million sold, making it the only handheld NOT a Nintendo to crack into the top 5 sales for handhelds.
It's a sad story, really, but you can only blame Sony. They tried too hard, made the system, games, and everything attached to it with such terrible business strategy. Even the more recent thoughts of making it a Gamepad-like controller for PS3 or PS4 apparently couldn't save it.
