LEVEL-5 DROPPING SUPPORT
Level-5 will become a company that few will enjoy shortly, as to go along with the recent announcement that the 7th Professor Layton game will be skipping 3DS, they've also announced that a sequel to FANTASY LIFE will be passing-by the 3DS as well, in favor of iPhones/iOS and Android.
Titled Fantasy Life 2: Two Moons And The Village of God, the game will give you 12 "lives", and will focus more on building your town, and have an option to collect neighbors to make your town larger.
It's expected to be out sometime this year, though, again NOT on 3DS.

Never played either of them so this doesn't really have any bearing on me.

it doesn't to me either, but it's never a good move to anger the dedicated Nintendo fan base/support in favor of going with MOBILE phones.
especially when the first FANTASY LIFE was such a BIG game on 3DS

I have Fantasy Life & I would love to see part 2 come to the 3DS; but I can see why moving it to the mobile market would be a good move since so many more people are playing on their mobile phones.. That & more people have mobile phones in Japan so this only makes sense in the end.
I hope there will be a 3DS port (or Steam PC port) but only time will tell. :3

It makes more sense for those who prefer Mobile versions of games, but, like yourself queen, not everyone HAS smartphones--OR if they do they don't play games on them. Skipping the 3DS is, in the long run, a BAD move. You're missing MILLIONS of potential copies being sold, and at a much BIGGER price than for that of an "APP".
Congrats Level-5, you've already lost a large percentage of fans, and now you're about to lose a LOT of money!

Well.. If I was desperate enough; I could always emulate having an android phone on my pc. (It is possible to do. *shrugs* I'm just sayin.) But I don't think at this juncture Level-5 cares what the fans want is the way I feel about it. xp

Emulating plus we here at TNE don't talk about such things Clearly, though, Level-5 has abandoned their 3DS/Nintendo Fan support base--cause they're also dropping LAYTON 7 from being a 3DS game(which I REALLY wanted). That's 2 STRIKES against them! The money loss will be terrible---saying the first FANTASY LIFE sold over a million on 3DS, that's $30 a game they're NOW losing with the loss of a potential MILLION copies(or more) of #2 if they were smart enough to remember that ONCE you start a series on a system, you SHOULD continue the series on the same system. Mobile games are usually "shells" of a proper ported version anyways, I can't see FL2 being a HUGE improvement if played phones/tablets.

That maybe so but in reality emulation exists even if you refuse to acknowledge it's existence. (I'm just sayin. ) Idk I don't really care one way or another what Level-5 does since it isn't in my power to try to persuade them to bring this title over to the 3DS anyway. The ONLY way to do that would be to convince the fans of the series to NOT buy it on their phone & send emails telling Level-5 that they would have bought said product if it had released to the 3DS. Other wise all our whining & complaining goes unheard; at least if the fan base says something WITH THEIR WALLETS then Level-5 would have to listen to them. Otherwise; nothing is going to gets accomplished. At least impo.
