So, Nintendo dropped an unannounced Nintendo Direct this morning and a lot of new info was dropped.
Character - New characters are Baby Rosilena and Pink Gold Peach. Baby Roseilena will be a light weight, Pink Gold Peach will be heavy.
Karts - Karts/Bikes can be fully customized just like in Mario Kart 7.
Items - Boomerang Flower, can be used 3 times.. Works like a boomerang... Hits something, comes back. Crazy 8, just like the Lucky 7 from Mario Kart 7, but one extra item! Super Horn, releases a sound wave to take out opponents and items...Including the blue shell.. This item will be extremely rare though.
Tracks - New tracks shown were Dolphin Sholes, Bower's Castle, Mt. Wario, and of course, Rainbow Road. Retro tracks shown were Sherbet Land (GCN) Yoshi's Valley (N64), Wario Stadium (MKDS) and Music Park (MK7).
Online - Online will have 12 player matches with voice and text chat in the pre game lobbies, and one friend may join you online. You can also makes tournaments with you own desired rules, or join someone else's tournament via password. Tournaments can be chosen what time and day you wish for it to take place. Ghost data can be downloaded just like in Mario Kart Wii, and if you can beat a developer's ghost, you earn a Miiverse Stamp.
MKTV - Mario Kart TV is a new feature that allows you to watch your highlights or others online.. Alone or with friends! You can upload 30,60,and 90 second uploads to Mario Kart TV.. Or an entire race! You can also upload highlight reals to your Youtube channel, but only up to 90 seconds.
Promotions - There will be a Mario Kart Wii U bundle... Its priced at $329.99 USD and will come with a deluxe Wii U, RED Wii Steering Wheel and a Mario themed Wii Remote Plus. The Wii U package also comes with a copy of Mario Kart 8 of course. On top of this, if you register your copy of Mario Kart 8 to Club Nintnedo From May 30 - July 11, you can get a free game! Games of choice are... Wii Party U, New Super Mario Bros. U, Legend of Zelda: Windwaker, or Pikmin 3.
